Honestly - not a horror movie, but go on youtube and watch the 1980s movie about nuclear war called "The Day After." Its harrowing b/c its fairly realistic (nvm the 1980s special effects). There's something chilling about watching ...It's a psychological horror, so it's heavy on the creepy aspect and very light on the gore and gratuitous violence. It's more about the uneasiness the film establishes through the story and cinematography. It's revered because of it's artistic value, I don't actually know many fans who are genuinely scared by it. 29.
Definitely not. The level of exposition was straight-up aggravating to me, and most of the "scary" parts were unintentionally funny. Toni Colette was truly great, however, but the rest of the cast ranged from meh to poor. After all the rave reviews I expected something out of the ordinary.Not to mention at that time there was an media alien craze: X-Files, Fox TV had alien autopsy show and Unsolved Mysteries had supposedly real alien encounter stories.
